A vignette where the devil requires the assistance of a demon, and they debate the beauty of suffering.
“Isn’t she beautiful?” Damian asked, stalking around the still-breathing doll.
Luci licked over her dry lips, staring at the art laid out in front of her. She turned her head to face the demon, “Hardly,” she scoffed.
Damian twitched. His eyes narrowed at the woman and lips pulled back, “And what,” he hissed, “Would you do to make it better?”
“You’ve left her entire chest alone,” Luci points out, “You need to slice the skin back so you can see her lungs and heart. Then you can watch the last breath she takes and the last beat of her heart.”
Damian blinked, glancing down at the body. He tilted his head to the side, “Hmm…you’re right…that would complete the picture.”
Damian stooped down and sliced away the thin layer of skin, peeling it back before cutting it off entirely. The woman could no longer even scream. She jerked occasionally, but made no other sound or movement. Damian tossed the flesh to the side and stood back to examine his work.
Lillian turned away, retching over the hard, stone floor. Travis watched, eyes burning and fists clenching at his side. Michael just turned his head away silently.
Luci and Damian stared at the magnificent remnants of a once beautiful woman. They watched as her lungs expanded less and less behind ivory ribs, and her heart pumped slower and slower, until both stopped moving all together.
“Now, there was something you needed?” Damian asked with a too pleasant smile as he turned toward Luci.
“Yes,” Luci sighed, “I need to track a few people down. Talented people, and there’s no better sniffer dog in the world.”
“And what if I don’t want to help you out?” Damian asked with a slight smirk.
“Fine then,” Luci said with a wave of her hand, “We’ll just have to find someone else,” she said, stepping away from the demon.
“Wait,” Damian said, making Luci turn around and move back over to him
“I’ll help,” Damian stated, “But on one condition,” he paused, “You let me tear you apart.”
Travis stepped forward, “No way! She’s not going to let you-”
“Deal,” Luci cut off, lips curling into a thin smirk, “Oh, and Damian, dear,” she leaned in, breath ghosting over his ear, “Do make it worth my time,” she sneered.
